I was jsut taking a look at Canaidan car sites again because I know they have some cool cars that we don’t get. After searching Mitsu and Chevy sites, I looked at the Spark and Mirage. They start around $10k up there. That’s because they have competition—the sub-10k Nissan Micra.

There is one tradeoff, though, particularly with the Spark. In Canada, the manual transmission only seems to be available on the base model. Down here, you can get the stick on any Spark.

The cheapest Mirage or Spark in the US is $13k!

They should lower the prices down here, too. More people will be able to afford new cars, and it can help the economy, too.

Is this sub $10k CAD vs $13k USD? If so, thats a substantial difference.

Never understood why some would buy a POS  for 10k when you could get a decent used car that will last way longer.

Just because it’s a new car?

We still do? We did at one point, I don’t think that is a thing anymore that I am aware of? I’m looking at Hyundai Canada’s website atm and the cheapest 2019 Accent hatch is $14K and the cheapest Accent sedan is 17K according to the Build and Price section...?

If you can still get a base model 2019 Accent hatch with manual windows and manual transmission I am pleased as I have a 2009 Accent hatch base trim and love it, despite it’s cheapness and basicness. :)

People can’t afford new cars anymore, and that is a big problem! Stuck buying used cars.

Also, these are free sales for the car companies . They are often insecure and jealous and worried that they might steal sales from a new Sonic/Cruze/Versa or whatever. But they do not compete with more expensive new cars. They compete with used cars, as you pointed out.

Also, new car interest rates are cheaper than for used cars, and it’s easier to get a good deal on a brand new car as well. Tom McP/Automatch has talked about this a few times on the troll page. Late-model used ca rs aren’t the bargains they used to be, except for large luxury cars.
